All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate Senator Bola Ahmed said he would not be tied to media appearances and debates.
Tinubu was absent from last weekend’s presidential debate co-organized by Arise TV and the Center for Democracy and Development (CDD).
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer Atiku Abubakar is represented by his running mate Peter Okowa, while New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), Labour (LP) and New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) candidates Rabiu Kwankwaso, Peter Obi and Kola Abiola The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) was present separately.
The PDP accused Tinubu of being afraid to answer questions at the debate, while the LP fired him for behaving like an emperor.
But through a response from Bayo Onanuga, director of media and advocacy for the Tinubu/Shettima campaign, the APC presidential candidate insisted he would not be scheduled for media appearances and debates.
“We read with pleasure the absurd positions of the Atiku/Okowa campaign committee and Labour/Peter Obi as our presidential candidate Asíwájú Bola Ahmed Tinubu was absent from the poorly organised town hall debate on Arise TV.
“Separate press releases from the two newly appointed presidential campaign offices sought to raise questions from Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s thoughtful decision to follow his own campaign plan.
“The more ridiculous of the two positions is the one canvassed by the spokesman for the Atiku/Okowa campaign. PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar also did not attend the Arise town hall meeting.
“However, his spokesman has attacked our candidates out of unemployment and lack of productive risk taking, perhaps in pursuit of media propaganda, whose campaigns desperately need a distraction from their failed presidential bid. force.
“We believe that even a court jester should have a moment of self-reflection. If it did, the statement would be unnecessary.
“The PDP did not tell Nigerians why its presidential candidate was busy chasing the shadows instead of returning to Nigeria after senior US officials watched him and his 15 other wandering adults indifferently.
“We would like to reiterate that, in order to draw the attention of PDPs and LPs, Asiwaju Tinubu will not be involved in media appearances and debates.
“Asiwaju Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima have a campaign timeline they are following and they have been having conversations with Nigerians in town hall meetings and other forums.
“The Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Committee made its position on the debate clear in a statement issued by our Director of Public Affairs, Mr. Festus Keyamo, and it remains.
“We recognise that both the PDP and LP will have to use the name Asiwaju Tinubu and hope their struggling campaign can gain some traction. Nigerians witnessed LP candidate Mr Peter Obi and Dino Melaye, one of Atiku-Okowa’s court jesters, on live TV Shame and vile exchange between.
“Nigerians will certainly not vote for candidates and parties that cannot maintain their etiquette and basic decency on state television.”
