Streaming platform Netflix on Tuesday announced the release date of its first Nigerian youth show, Far From Home.
Produced in partnership with acclaimed Inkblot Productions, the five-part series completed principal photography earlier this year and is set for an exclusive world premiere on Netflix on December 16, 2022.
Far From Home tells the story of Ishaya (Mike Afoliarin), a charismatic teenager and talented artist from a poor family whose dreams suddenly change when he wins a prestigious scholarship to the country’s top school. Being within reach puts him in the wealthy world of Nigeria’s elite. Meanwhile, a huge secret threatens Ishaya’s new identity and, ultimately, the safety of his family.
Far From Home combines an exciting group of up-and-coming talent with established screen legends such as Funke Akindele, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Bolanle Ninalowo, Bucci Franklin, Bimbo Akintola, Linda Ejiofor, Chioma Akpotha, Femi Branch , Carol King and Ufuoma Mcdermott. Mike Afoliarin, Elma Mbadiwe, Genoveva Umeh, Gbubemi Ejeye, Olumide Oworu and Natse Jemide are part of a rising star pioneer.

Renowned Nigerian screenwriter Dami Elebe serves as the lead writer and Chinaza Onuzo, Erika Klopper, Zulumoke Oyibo and Damola Ademola serve as executive producers.
