Applications now being accepted for the Advanced Agricultural Leadership Program



The Ontario Rural Institute is now accepting applications for its twentieth Advanced Agricultural Leadership Program.

Gabrielle Ferguson, director of leadership programs, said a class can hold up to 30 people, and the program targets agricultural leaders in Ontario and across the value chain.

“So we have people from financial institutions, the media, primary producers and all the commodities, horticulture and livestock. We have food processors, so there’s a lot of variety,” Ferguson explained.

The program is an 18-month executive leadership program.

“In the first year, they did three workshops and did a North American study tour, and in the second year, they did three workshops and did an international study tour,” explained Ferguson. “The international class, we’ve done it. Spain, Portugal and Morocco, and this class will go to Greece.”

Past graduates of the program include Lisa Thompson, the current Provincial Minister of Agriculture; President of the Ontario Agricultural Federation; President of the Ontario Food and Agriculture Association; and President of the Libro Credit Union.

Deadline is application It’s November 25th. The course starts in September 2023.
