Arrest made and charges laid following two local break-in thefts

Police have arrested and charged one person following two recent burglaries in Goderich.

A business was broken into on Huron Road in Goderich at 10.49pm on November 5. Huron County OPP officials said they found a smashed front glass door and found cigarettes, cigars, drinks and candy stolen from the store. A 46-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged on Nov. 6, released the same day, and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich at a later date.

A second store was broken into, this time on Bayfield Road, Goderich, late at 11.50pm on November 6.

When police arrived, they said they again found the main entrance glass door smashed and cigarettes, drinks, candy and wireless speakers stolen. Video surveillance led police to believe the suspect was the same person charged at the first break-in.

The accused was held at a bail hearing and is currently in custody following a second arrest, which includes a charge of drug possession.
