Chatham-Kent driver charged after fatal collision near Leamington



A driver who was involved in a three-vehicle crash between Leamington and Wheatley in March that killed two people is now facing charges.

On March 18, Ontario Provincial Police responded to a collision between a pickup truck, a sedan and a utility van on County Road 34.

Two occupants of the car, Carrie Dawnette, 50, of Wheatley, and Jacqueline Steeman, 30, of Tilbury, died at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the utility van was not injured.

The 22-year-old Romney driver from Chatham-Kent faces charges following an investigation by the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Unit.

Jacob Fehr is charged with two counts of operating a damaged condition causing death, operating a prohibited condition, two counts of dangerous operation causing death and one count of operating a motor vehicle without consent.

The allegations have yet to be proven in court.
