Letang named assistant coach for 2023 World Juniors



Sarnia Sting head coach Alan Letang has been appointed to the coaching staff of Canada’s 2023 World Junior Hockey Championship.

Letang will serve as assistant coach as Canada looks to defend its 2022 gold medal victory. Letang is an assistant coach for Canada’s national under-18 men’s national team, which won the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup gold last summer.

He also won a gold medal at the 2020 IIHF World Youth Championship as an assistant coach of the Canadian national youth team.

Dennis Williams (Everett, WHL) returns as head coach.

Other assistant coaches include Stéphane Julien (Sherbrooke, QMJHL), Brent Kisio (Lethbridge, WHL), as well as goalkeeping consultant Kelly Guard (Prince Albert, WHL) and video coach James Emery (Calgary, Alta.).

The races will be held in Moncton, New Brunswick and Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Canada’s national youth team will gather in Moncton for a four-day selection camp from December 9-12. The selection camp list will be announced in the coming weeks.

Preliminaries will begin on December 26.
