A new fire chief has been hired to represent the Huron East and North Huron fire departments.
After a lengthy search, two municipalities announced that Kent Redman will be the area’s new fire chief starting December 6. Retiring Chief Marty Bedard will work with Chief Redman and help him through the transition process. Chief Redman has over 20 years of volunteer firefighting experience and has served as a Superintendent for the past 5 years. He is also a director of the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs’ Board of Directors and served as a member of the North Huron Fire Department in Huron County until 2015.
At that point, Redman left to continue his career in pursuit of becoming a fire chief. He now returns to the area to lead the North Huron and East Huron Fire Departments.
East Huron Mayor Bernie McLellan said, “The City of East Huron is fortunate and values the qualifications, skills and experience Mr. Redman brings to the role. We look forward to working with Mr. Redman. Cooperate and thank Fire Chief Bedard for his 29 years of service to the City of East Huron.”
North Huron Reeve Bernie Bailey also shared that “The Town of North Huron is delighted to welcome Mr. Redman back to the North Huron Fire Department as Fire Chief. Mr. Readman has been interested in the fire service from a very early age and is honored to have He assumes this leadership role. North Huron values and appreciates the shared services agreement with the City of East Huron, and we look forward to this continued shared services arrangement.”
