Sooke festive event fun way to help sick kids

The Sooke Festival of Trees returns to the SEAPARC Recreation Centre, offering families a delightful way to enjoy seasonal fun while supporting a fundraiser that supports the vital work of BC Children’s Hospital.

“SEAPARC is delighted to be hosting the event again this year,” said Darcy Smith, SEAPARC Entertainment Program Associate.

“Whether it’s for a neighbor, a co-worker or our own children, Sooke is very familiar with the vital care BC Children’s provides. Raising money for children who need it most has a place in all of our hearts.”

Sooke Harbourside Lion’s Club member Jane Beddows said the club was delighted to be partnering with SEAPARC again for this event.

“Co-chairs Nancy Illien and I know the community is excited about the opportunity to be part of this again and help such a worthy cause,” Beddows said.

Businesses, schools, community organizations and individuals are invited to sponsor a tree displayed at SEAPARC or participating locations. People can support the fundraiser by voting for their favorite tree.

The festivities kicked off on November 22nd from 6-8pm, with the tree decorations highlighting the “Starting to Look Like Christmas” family night at SEAPARC. Gord Phillips will provide Santa photos and music. Sooke Harbourside Lions Club will be offering hot dogs and hot chocolate through donations. Santa’s Gift Shop offers gifts for kids of all ages.

“It’s a great event for the whole family and a special way to kick off the holidays,” Beddows said.

There is also a public skating rink from 7pm to 8:15pm with a normal admission fee and a welcome swim from 7pm to 9pm for a $2 admission fee.

Be sure to head to SEAPARC at 2168 Phillips Rd. Vote for your favorite tree from November 23rd to December 28th from November 23rd to December 28th.
