A 31-year-old Scarborough man is now facing two charges after a car crash on Queens Line near Tilbury in August took the life of a 55-year-old woman.
Chatham-Kent police previously reported that a cement truck was heading west and approaching the Queens Line 401 Freeway entrance ramp when it veered into oncoming traffic and struck an eastbound SUV.
The cement truck then drove off the road, crossed a ditch, and stopped in the cornfield. The SUV skidded in a ditch on the south side of the road.
The 55-year-old woman driving the SUV was airlifted to hospital but later died of her injuries. The driver of the cement truck suffered minor injuries and was treated in hospital.
As a result of the investigation, police charged Scarborough man Alistair Gonsalves, 31, with dangerous driving causing death and criminal negligence causing death.
He will be required to appear in court on November 14 to answer the charges.
