More sailings cancelled as Nanaimo ferry needed for Sunshine Coast route

A tough week of ferry cancellations continues today and tomorrow as a ferry from the Nanaimo route has been put into service along the Sunshine Coast.

In a service notice, BC Ferries said the Queen of Oak Bay, which serves Horseshoe Bay in the Lower Mainland and Langdale on the Sunshine Coast, suffered a mechanical failure and that the Queen of Oak Bay would provide “supplementary service” in the area.

“As such, service between Horseshoe Bay and Departure Bay will be provided by Queen Cowichan on a revised schedule,” BC Ferries said.

The schedule for today and tomorrow (November 9-10) has been revised, with Queen Cowichan leaving Nanay at 6.15am, 10.40am, 3.20pm and 7.40pm Mo’s Departure Bay Terminal.Departures from Horseshoe Bay at 8:25am, 1pm, 5:30pm and 9:40pm

The ferry company apologised for any inconvenience and noted it was working to resolve the issue. The service announcement says more information will be provided as it becomes available.
