New air traffic control tower coming to Victoria International Airport

A new air traffic control tower is under construction at Victoria International Airport.

Nav Canada will begin construction of the tower in spring 2023, with completion scheduled for 2026.

The building will be six stories tall, a few meters taller than the current tower, built in 1958.

“The new tower will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology to safely and efficiently manage the growing demand for air traffic,” said Raymond G. Bohn, president and CEO of Nav Canada. “It will also be LEED certified, which is a testament to energy efficiency and A sustainable investment and demonstrates Nav Canada’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.”

The new tower will also feature a cab with 360-degree views of the airport.

“We congratulate Nav Canada and we are delighted to see this new state-of-the-art control tower being built at Victoria International Airport,” said airport president and CEO Geoff Dickson. “Aviation is a booming economy. key industries and this project will help foster continued growth in the region.”
