Sting fall to Attack 6-2



Sagnastin didn’t make much progress on both ends of the ice on Wednesday night in Owen Sound’s 6-2 loss.

Sarnia’s Sandis Vilmanis and Easton Wainwright scored in the loss, while goalie Ben Gaudreau was pulled off after conceding five of 22 shots in the second quarter.

The offense pulled away from a Matthew Papais goal at 6:06 of the first quarter. Deni Goure made it 2-0 at 12:30.

Less than two minutes into the second quarter, Ethan Burroughs made a field goal and the offense struck again. Vermanis put Sagna on at 14:25 in the middle, but Owen Sand hit back at 17:55 and 18:17 to make it 5-1 after 40 minutes.

Wainwright pulled Sting to within three with his second goal of the season at 3:04 of the third quarter. Goul restored the offense’s four-goal lead with a strong game marker at 7:28 for his second goal and fourth of the game.

Sagna finished 8-0 in a power game as they beat Owen Sound 31-28. The offense went 1-2 with a man advantage.

The loss dropped the Sting’s record on the season to 8-6-1-1, putting them third in the OHL’s Western Conference.Sarnia is back in action Friday night as the club host Saginaw – CHOK’s coverage (1070am/FM 103.9) from 6:30pm
