Crowd gathers to remember in Goderich

Goderich’s Courthouse Park was packed on Friday morning, the best weather in recent years for a Memorial Day ceremony.

The Celtic Blue Highlander Band leads the way from the 109th Division of the Royal Canadian Regiment on Kingston Street to the monument on the east side of Court Park.

Goderich Mayor Myles Murdock, Central Huron Mayor Jim Ginn and Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Mayor Glen McNeil were in attendance.

Many said they attended every year. Many also said they had family members who served in the armed forces.

The ceremony ended with the placement of poppies and the singing of God Bless the King.
