South Bruce Grey Health said its Durham emergency department would be closed overnight from late afternoon on Friday.
Durham Hospital will close at 5pm and reopen at 7am on Saturday, November 12, according to a press release from the Hospital Network late Thursday.
“All efforts to find personnel for the emergency department have been unsuccessful,” a statement from SBGHC said.
The ambulance detour will begin at 5pm and the patient will be transported to the next nearest emergency room.
People who need urgent medical care should still call 911. Non-urgent health care needs can be called by calling Health Connect Ontario 24/7 on 811.
The closure notice came on the same day that SBGHC announced that the Chesley Hospital Emergency Department would resume weekday services.
