The Bruce Gray Poverty Task Force is pleased with the tough language used at the ongoing international climate conference.
Coordinator Jill Umbach said climate change must be addressed because there is a clear link between climate, poverty and equity.
The working group called on participants to make progress at the ongoing COP27 meeting in Egypt.
Now is the time for governments at all levels to develop transformative policies to address the root causes of climate change and income insecurity, Umbach said.
She said the North Bruce Peninsula Climate Action Plan Team had recently assessed the potential equitable impact of their climate action plan on the North Bruce Peninsula.
Some solutions include a basic income, she added.
