MADD dedication to remember lives lost

MADD Sarnia-Lombton will hold its annual White Cross dedication on Saturday to deliver a thought-provoking message about the dangers of drink driving.

Volunteers will set up 270 white crosses along St. Clair Parkway at the north end of Aamjiwnaang First Nation.

The group said in a press release that the crosses were meant to remind people that driving impairments remain a serious problem on local roads, endangering lives and causing immeasurable harm and emotional distress.

According to Sarnia Police Service, 69 drink-driving charges were laid in the first 10 months of 2022, while Langton OPP reported 145 drink-driving incidents.

MADD Sarnia-Lmbton chooses a different location each year to display the white cross before the holidays.

Volunteers will begin setting the cross across from Suncor around 10:30am and will have a dedication ceremony at 11am
