Office alum Rainn Wilson, best known for playing Dwight Schrute, changed his name to raise awareness of the climate crisis.

Here’s everything you need to know.

Why did Rainn Wilson change his name?

Rainn Wilson has made a big move by changing his name to Rainnfall Heat Wave Extreme Winter Wilson, hoping to draw attention to the climate crisis.

Additionally, on Wednesday, he shared the news with his 4.4 million followers on Twitter.

“With the help of my scientist friends at Arctic Base Camp, I changed my name to Rainnfall Heat Wave Extreme Winter Wilson,” he wrote.

Additionally, he explained that he changed his name using a website called the Arctic Risk Name Generator.

“It’s no joke, my attitude is like the melting Arctic, which magnifies global risks, including global extreme weather events,” Wilson said.

He added, “I hope this name change will draw attention to this growing… er, melting problem. We need world leaders to take notice and act at COP27. 10,000 liters melt at a rate, but this question can’t seem to make a name for itself, so we’re going to give it a name.

In addition, the 56-year-old actor’s statement came ahead of COP27, the United Nations climate change conference scheduled for this week in Egypt.

Wilson continues to urge the public and celebrities to join him and raise awareness of climate change.

Among other things, he suggested that Cardi B could change her name to “Cardi the arctic B melt” and “Amy Poehler bear endangered”.

Meanwhile, Gail Whiteman, founder of Arctic Base Camp and professor of sustainability at the University of Exeter Business School, backed the actor.

He said he was “thankful” to Wilson for calling on people to do their part.

Another noted, “I’m going to change my name to ‘wait 5 minutes before eating’ to warn of the dangers of eating hot pockets straight from the microwave.”
