Remembrance Day closures, service changes in Windsor



The City of Windsor honors those who made the greatest sacrifices, and services will be suspended on Memorial Day Friday.

Windsor Town Hall and all municipal buildings in Windsor-Essex will be closed on Friday.

The post office will be closed and no mail will be delivered. Some banks and financial institutions may be closed or have reduced hours on Friday. Be sure to call ahead to avoid wasting your trip.

Both The Beer Store and LCBO will be open at noon on Friday and resume normal business on Saturday.

The 311 Customer Contact Centre is closed but will reopen at 8am on Monday. 211 Call Center is open 24-7 as usual.

All four public school boards serving Windsor-Essex and St. Clair College will have classes on Friday as usual. Classes will be held at the University of Windsor, but this is a study week for law students.

Garbage collection and recycling pickups will be on schedule for Memorial Day. The city’s public drop-off stations and household chemical waste disposal stations are also open.

All Windsor arenas, community centres and indoor pools are open Friday. Windsor Waterworld’s Homeless and Housing Help Centre (H4) is open from 8:30am to 6:00pm

For parking enforcement, the City of Windsor’s municipal payment office will be closed on Friday. It is still possible to pay online.

Adventure Cove Family Water Park will be closed.

The Windsor Public Library was closed Friday for Remembrance Day.

Transit Windsor buses will operate on the normal weekday schedule. Tunnel buses to Detroit have been suspended, but are scheduled to resume service on November 27.The Customer Service Office in the Downtown Terminal will be open from 8am to 7pm

The Chimczuk Museum and the Francois Infant Home are open with free admission on Fridays.
