Volunteers needed for Celebration of Lights set-up

Centennial Park in Sarnia is getting a makeover this weekend.

A display for the annual Lights Celebration will be erected, and volunteers will be asked to meet at 9am Saturday to assist with the set-up.

Board chair Dean Holtz said they expect about 100 people to show up at Centennial Park to help, which is also a great opportunity for students to get volunteer time.

“We have a lot of students coming out, which is great, we’re happy to sign their time, we just ask them to bring the necessary documents that they need us to sign for them,” Holtz said.

The celebratory light arches on Front Street were installed on Thursday.

Holtz said the arches and displays will be lit up on Saturday, Nov. 26, as part of a larger launch party.

“We really wanted to bring back what the community has gotten used to and missed over the past three years, and we had a great launch event that a lot of people thought was the start of their Christmas season,” he said. “So, we There will be a Christmas carol concert, Santa will be there, fireworks, horseback riding and trams and more, it’s just a great family event.”

The exhibition will run every evening throughout the holiday season.
