Gov Mohammed warns monarchs to steer clear of politics –

Bauchi state Governor Bala Mohammed on Saturday warned the state’s traditional rulers to steer clear of partisan politics and focus on maintaining peace in their domain.

The Governor made the decision while presenting the office staff to Alhaji Umar Faruq, the 12th Emir of Qatagum at the emirate’s headquarters in Ajar.

The event was attended by Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya, Education Minister Adamu Adamu, State Affairs, Industry, Trade and Investment Minister Maryam Katagum and three former governors Ahmed Adamu Muazu, Isa Yuguda and Muhammed Abubakar.

Also in attendance were emirs and traditional title holders as well as heads of institutions and parastatals from across the country.

Mohammad tasked the new Emir with using his extensive experience as a retired federal permanent secretary to overcome all the challenges of his new office.

He stressed that the monarch not only needs to emulate the good qualities of his late father, Alhaji Muhammad Kabir, but also introduce more policies to ensure the well-being of his subjects.
