NAFDAC arrests producer of fake agrochemicals in Niger –

The National Food and Drug Administration (NAFDAC) has arrested Kabiru Idris, a producer of adulterated agrochemicals, in Niger state.

The state’s NFDAC coordinator, Mr. James Kigbu, confirmed the development to reporters when the suspect was taken to the agency’s offices in Minna along with some of the adulterated products.

He said: “Recently we started surveillance of agrochemicals in Niger State and arrested Alhaji Kabiru Idris in Makila, Machegou Local Government District, who was producing counterfeit agrochemicals.

“So far, our investigations show that he is the producer and distributor of Dudual 45% of the agrochemicals used for pest control.

“Idris has pleaded guilty and is helping the agency investigate the illegal trade. He will be charged in court and pay the necessary fines, with a written commitment from the court to refrain from engaging in such unhealthy activities.”
