Police shoot dead woman during North Vancouver arms call
Woman reportedly threatened to hurt someone, tried to break into home before police arrived
BC’s police watchdog is investigating after North Vancouver Mounties shot and killed a woman Saturday night (November 12) in a firearm and a break-in phone call.
Police were called to the townhouse complex in the 3700 block of Humber Square at about 7:30 p.m., where a woman reportedly threatened to injure someone with a weapon, the B.C. Independent Investigations Office said. The same woman is also believed to have tried to break into a nearby house.
The IIO said “an interaction ensued” and officers fired shots at 7:45 p.m. The woman was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The investigative office did not provide any further details but will investigate any wrongdoing by RCMP officers. IIO Investigates All Official Involvements That Caused Serious Injury or Death in B.C.
