Arrest made following reported assault that included alleged assault of police



Recent spats on the South Bruce Peninsula have led to some serious allegations.

On November 13, Grey-Bruce OPP officers responded to the attack on John Street, Wiarton. The police arrived and arrested those arrested. During the arrest, police allege the person began resisting arrest, allegedly causing harm to an officer. The officer was treated at a local hospital and discharged. The accused was taken to the Wiarton OPP station, and inside the building, the accused allegedly attempted to remove a weapon from an officer’s duty belt.

As a result, a 34-year-old South Bruce Peninsula native was charged with entering, assaulting, disarming a sheriff and assault with intent to resist arrest. The accused is being held pending a bail hearing on November 14.
