A Sooke company has won a prestigious award for customer service excellence after only two years in business.
Gladiator Drywall was recently named the recipient of the 2022 Better Business Bureau Torch Award in the Finished Services category.
“We were very surprised by the award,” said Blue Vasseur, co-owner of Gladiator Drywall. “Going forward, this will definitely help us build our business and forge new relationships.”
“Even being nominated for an award like this makes you feel like you’re doing the right thing,” says partner and longtime friend Andy Turnbull. “It’s a sense of accomplishment to be recognized for standing out in your work and customer service.”
Vasseur and Turnbull have been friends since 6th grade and have been in the drywall business for many years.
“Andy and his dad, Mike, adopted me when I was 15,” recalls Wasser. “Even though I’ve been working in the oil fields for seven years, whenever I’m in town, I’m always doing drywall with Andy.”
“My dad trained both of us in drywall, and Blue and I were talking on and off that maybe one day we would start our own business,” Turnbull said. “We finally started two years ago.”
The company works in all aspects of drywall throughout the South Island, including residential, commercial, custom fit-out, renovation and new construction, including the recent renovation of Sooke Fire Hall.
“We look forward to growing our business in the days ahead,” Turnbull noted.
“As the business grows, it’s important to both of us to give back to the community in whatever way we can,” Vasseur added.
The Better Business Bureau will celebrate its 60th anniversary this year, Rosiland Scott, president and CEO of BBB serving Vancouver Island, noted in a media release.
“The BBB congratulates 15 businesses on their exemplary commitment to honest and ethical business conduct and excellent customer service,” Scott said in announcing the winners of this year’s Torch Awards in 13 categories.
“We are proud to recognize the two companies that have been certified by us since our first year of operation, along with 13 other local businesses that have distinguished themselves in the industry for their trusted character, culture, customer service and community engagement “These businesses and their employees should be proud of their achievements.”
The award was presented at a gala at the Victoria United Club on 4 November. To see all winners, visit BBB.org/VITorchAwards.
