Huron Perth Public Health is joining the province in urging people to wear masks and get vaccinated as respiratory cases soar.
In a statement released Monday, public health officials said that this year’s flu and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) seasons started early and they have received multiple reports of flu in children under the age of five. The statement said Huron Perth Public Health would not normally detect laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza in children this young.
Influenza and RSV are causing severe illness in children and stressing the pediatric healthcare system.
