Residents in parts of southwestern Ontario will need to carry snow shovels with them.
Environment Canada has issued winter weather travel advisories for London, Middlesex County, East Lambton County, Pinewood Park and Waterford. According to the National Weather Service, between 5 and 15 centimeters of snow is possible from Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
“Snow may be heavy at times due to the lake effect of Lake Huron. Snow should rise from the northern part of the region by Thursday morning,” the report said.
Drivers are reminded to adjust their driving habits to changing road conditions, slow down in areas of reduced visibility, and be aware of taillights ahead and prepare to stop.
Similar warnings were issued for London and eastern Middlesex counties, Oxford, Huron, northern Wellington and Perth counties on Tuesday night. Falls of around 5cm were recorded in many areas, while in north London the drop was closer to 10cm. For many regions, this is the first major snow event of the season.
