Emergency crews pulled a body from Long Lake in Nanaimo this morning.

Nanaimo RCMP, BC Ambulance Service and Nanaimo Fire and Rescue were called to Long Lake shortly after 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 17 after a body was seen floating near the Loudon Park boathouse.

“It was called in by a guy who was out for a walk,” Backup Const said. Nanaimo RCMP spokesman Gary O’Brien. “We participated. We confirmed that there was a body in the water.”

Emergency crews boarded Nanaimo Fire and Rescue’s marine rescue boat at the boat ramp for rescue operations.

A walker was found on shore, but it may or may not have belonged to the person who was found dead, O’Brien said.

The BC Coroner’s Service has been notified. Loudoun Park is closed.
