Oil Museum gets into holiday spirit with open house



Santa will be at the Petroleum Museum of Canada on Friday for the historic site’s annual holiday open house.

The museum will host crafts and activities for the family from 12 noon to 3 pm. Snacks and mulled cider will also be served.

“We’re really excited! We’re going to have Santa here, and he’s going to be in Victorian costume, telling stories and taking pictures with all of our kids,” said Christina Sydorko, education program coordinator. ) Say.

There is no entry fee, but non-perishable items from the collection will be donated to local food banks.

Over the past few years, Sydorko said, they have seen about 150 people attend open houses.

“We’ve been running for about four or five years. There was a pause during COVID, but we’re excited to bring it back!”

At events held before the pandemic, Sydorko said about 200 pounds of food were collected.
