Provincial police negotiate with barricaded person in Vanastra

Vanastra had a large police presence as police negotiated with a besieged man.

In a statement released last night, the Huron OPP said they were called to the St. Charles Place townhouse at about 7:25 p.m. to cause a disturbance.

At present, personnel from the Western Region Tactical Rescue Team, the Western Region Emergency Team, K-9, and the Western Region Mobile Support Team have rushed to the scene.

The statement said there was no risk to public safety, but the Huron OPP asked the public to avoid the area until the situation is resolved.

Police said they would provide more information as it became available.
