The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kano state has accused the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) of sharing false results of the state’s governor and House elections on Saturday.
NNPP presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwanso had earlier accused APC of bribery and vote rigging in the state.
Muhammad Garba, spokesman for the state’s APC governor’s campaign committee, responded to the allegations in a statement but accused the NNPP of sharing false results to cover up its defeat in the election.
Therefore, Garba urged the people of the state to ignore the bogus results.
“With the results of Saturday’s gubernatorial and House elections showing the All Progressive Congress (APC) an early lead in Kano, the party calls on its members, supporters and the public to be vigilant against unconfirmed election results,” the statement read. Distributed by the New Nigerian People’s Party with the aim of inciting violence.
“It is clear that the failed NNPP shared false results to deceive the unsuspecting public that the election may have been rigged.
“We urge the people of the state to wait for the election results from official channels and not allow themselves to be used to cause trouble.”
