Daniel Bwala, spokesman for the Atiku/Okowa campaign group, described this year’s election as one between the opposition, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the police.
Bwala made this statement on his Twitter handle on Saturday.
The comments by the leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) followed reports of violence during gubernatorial and state assembly elections in many parts of the country.
The commission has postponed elections at 10 polling stations in Lekki district or Lagos state over fears of political attacks by mobs.
Bwala insisted that the election was not between the opposition and the All Progressive Congress (APC).
“The 2023 elections will go down in Nigeria’s history as a year in which the opposition elects not against a weakened and rejected ruling party but against INEC and the police,” he wrote. “
