INEC postpones elections for eight polling units in Eti-Osa till Sunday –

The Lagos State Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will conduct Governor and House elections on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at eight polling stations in Eti-Osa LCDA.

Mrs Tadese Adenike, head of voter education and advocacy for the council, said in a statement that the election was not held at the affected polling station in Victoria Garden City Estates, Eti Osa Local Government Area, as residents refused to come out to vote.

She said: “The committee wishes to inform the public that the Governor/House of Representatives election today, Saturday 18 March 2023, cannot be held at eight (8) polling stations in Garden City Estates Victoria, Eti Osa Local Government Area.

This press release has become necessary to clarify the allegations and allegations currently circulating.

It should also be noted that the temporary staff (NYSC Corp members) involved in the presidential/National Assembly elections on February 25, 2023 due to extended working hours (4:00 am on February 26, 2023 at the latest) have The overall well-being of temporary workers is detrimental.

In light of this situation and to prevent previous occurrences, Eti-Osa’s election officials were directed to reach a compromise with VGC management to hold today’s Governor/House elections in front of the Estate Gate, but to the dismay of the Commission, despite Police and military were deployed to the area to ensure security and promote environmental peace during and after today’s March 18, 2023 election, but residents still refused to come out and vote.

After consultation with the committee, it has been decided to reschedule the election to be held at the VGC Eti-Osa LGA tomorrow, Sunday, March 19, 2023 from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Attention the public, the number of registered voters in the VGC is six thousand twenty-four (6,024) and the number of PVCs collected is five thousand six hundred and twenty-four (5,624)

As a law-abiding corporate body, the Independent National Election Commission will never deny voters the right to fulfill their civic duties and vote for the candidate of their choice.

INEC asks the good people of VGC to maintain order and law-abiding during the rescheduled election tomorrow 19th March 2023. “
