Desmond Elliot defeats LP, clinches reelection bid –

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate Nollywood star Olusola Elliot the winner in Lagos’ Surulere 1 state constituency.

The Returning Officer for Surulere Constituency 1, Dr John Fenuga from the University of Lagos, announced the results at the Surulere Local Government Consolidation Center in Lagos at 8 am on Sunday.

Elliott won with 17,837 votes, while Labor Party (LP) candidate Bode Adebayo came in second with 7,822 votes, he said.

“Olusola Elliot of the APC fulfilled the legal requirements and received the highest number of votes, and is hereby declared the winner and re-elected,” Fenuga said.

According to him, Sulaimon Aderemi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) came in third with 1,045 votes and Esebamen Aigbokhaode of the ADC with 81 votes.

“ADP’s Omotosho Oluseyifunmi was fifth with 57 votes, SDP’s Olalekan Oshodi was sixth with 56 votes, AA’s Sulaimon Aderemi was seventh with 28 votes, NNPP’s Peace Onwuboro was eighth with 19 votes and BP’s Folami Akinpelumi was second with 19 votes. Ranked ninth with 16 votes.

“Furthermore, APP’s Malik Opeyemi took 10th place with three votes and NRM’s Nnadi Nnaemeka took 11th place with two votes,” Fenuga said.

Likewise, the Returning Officer for Surulere Constituency 2, Dr Marian Quadri of the University of Lagos, announced the results at the Surulere Local Government Trialization Center in Lagos on Sunday at 8.15 am.

Mrs Mosunmola Sangodara won with 21,894 votes, Labor’s Sunday Famoritade came second with 20,892 votes and Olaboeale Johnson of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) came third with 2,034 votes, she said.

According to her, Sangodara of the APC fulfilled the legal requirements and received the highest number of votes and is hereby declared the winner and re-elected.

“AA’s Kamoli Mogagi was fourth with 1,172 votes, NNPP’s Clement Lawanson was fifth with 208 votes, YPP’s Mobafolu Ogunbiyi was sixth with 611 votes, BP’s Olubola Adesanya was seventh with 150 votes and ADC’s Quadri Aileru was second with 150 votes. Eighth with 94 votes and ADP’s Juliana Kanpe ninth with 86 votes.

“SDP’s Olaseni Esere was 10th with 59 votes, Eliajah Oseni was 11th with 32 votes and PRP’s Ahmed Olashile was 12th with six votes,” Quadri said.
