Hold Rhodes-Vivour responsible if Lagos catches fire – APC tells police –

The All Progressive Congress (APC) has warned Labor gubernatorial candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of his “if Lagos is on fire tonight” statement on Saturday, calling on police to arrest him amid riots in Lagos.

Rhodes-Vivour commented on the progress of the state’s gubernatorial election.

APC publicity secretary Seye Oladejo in Lagos warned LP candidates in a statement on Saturday, describing GRV as unsportsmanlike losers.

According to Oladejo, “The All Progressive Congress (APC) has taken note of the statement made by Labor Party (LP) gubernatorial candidate Gbadebo Chinedu Rhodes-Vivour in today’s election.

“He accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the police of ‘provoking Lagosians’ and warned ‘if Lagos catches fire tonight, it’s not our fault.

“Many places are still being attacked by APC thugs and hooligans,” he said.

“This kind of alarmism is typical of an unsportsmanlike underdog.

“Security agencies should take note of Mr Rhodes-Vivour’s threat to set fire to Lagos as Nigerians know his penchant for violence and belligerence.

“If there is any breakdown of law and order anywhere in our state, law enforcement should know who to arrest – Mr Rhodes-Vivour.

“We are compiling reports on how APC supporters are being harassed and attacked today. Some of the reports are really scary.

“Now the LP candidates are playing the victim. The old trick won’t work; discerning Lagosians know they’re all lying to gain sympathy.”
