Angry party surrogates have expressed disgust at what they call the exchange of election materials and doctored results in Saturday’s gubernatorial and state assembly elections.
Aggrieved surrogates protested the results in the Khana and Tai local government areas in particular, claiming that officials from the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) colluded with the state’s ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to perpetuate wrongdoing.
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) proxy at the sorting center said the votes allocated to the Ikwerre local council governor’s vote were diverted to the Khana and Tai LGAs respectively, thereby disenfranchising voters.

He also said that the ballot paper intended for Akwa Ibom state was taken to Karna and the voters refused to use it just so that they could see the result for the district.
They also cited the reported loss of 25 BVAS machines on Friday, the day before the election, as a ploy by the PDP to further weaken voters’ will.
Another agent said opposition agents and supporters were driven away from some polling stations in Rumueme, Rumekpirikom in the state’s Obio-Akpor local council and parts of the Port Harcourt local council.
