London police locate “potentially hazardous” equipment during probe



City Police called firefighters to a south London residence on Tuesday afternoon after potentially hazardous material was discovered during the investigation.

Police were called to a property on Commissioners Road East between Ridout Street and Kingsford Crescent about a disturbance at about 12.30pm. Shortly after police arrived, two people were arrested as part of a drug and weapons investigation.

During a search of the house, officers found unspecified materials and equipment they believed to be dangerous, police said. Members of the London Fire Brigade were therefore asked to assist in determining whether the objects posed any immediate threat to public safety.

No other details were provided as police officials said the investigation was still in its early stages. Police are likely to have been at the scene on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Police also did not specify the charges against the arrested couple.
