The discovery of a dead person earlier this week led to the overnight closure of a rest stop on Highway 401 near Woodstock, provincial police confirmed.
Shortly after 2 a.m. Monday, members of the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police opened a death investigation on Woodstock OnRoute on the eastbound Highway 401 in southwest Oxford Township.
A 34-year-old man was unresponsive at the service center and life-saving measures were taken, according to investigators.
The man was then taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. It is unclear where in the facility the man was found. As a result of the investigation, OnRoute was shut down for several hours while officials investigated.
An autopsy is planned. Police said there was no threat to public safety. However, the investigation is still ongoing.
