What’s open and closed Easter weekend in Windsor-Essex?



Depending on where you work or go to school, you may have three or four days off this weekend. This means many businesses and institutions in Windsor-Essex will close or adjust their opening hours.

Good Friday is an official holiday, although others also observe Easter Monday as a holiday. All federal, provincial and municipal government offices will be closed for two days. There will also be no Canada Post delivery.

Service Ontario locations will also be closed on Friday and Monday, but certain transactions, such as license renewals, may be suspended online.

All four Windsor-Essex public school boards are closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday. Normal classes on Tuesday. Students at the University of Windsor and St Clair’s College will have Friday off, but classes will resume on Monday.

Both the brewery and the LCBO are closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, but open on Saturday and Monday.

All Windsor Public Library branches are closed on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. On Saturdays, only the Budimir, Central and Riverside branches are open from 9am to 5pm. All Essex County Library branches will be closed on Friday, Sunday and Monday.

Devonshire Mall and Tecumseh Mall are closed on Friday and Sunday, but open on Saturday and Monday. At LaSalle’s Windsor Crossing Premium Outlets, stores are open from 10 am to 6 pm on Good Friday, noon to 5 pm on Easter Sunday and during normal hours on Saturday and Monday.

The 311 call center will be closed on Friday and Monday and reopen Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The 211 call center will remain open 24 hours as usual.

In the City of Windsor, residential waste and recyclables will not be collected on Friday or Monday. Garbage collection will be delayed by one day next week. See your garbage collection calendar for details. Commercial, front loader and weekly recycling collections will continue as usual. The public dumps and household chemical waste stations at Center Street and EC Row are closed Friday, Sunday and Monday, but open Saturday.

All community centers and arenas in Windsor are closed Friday and Sunday, except for previously booked events and rentals. The Windsor International Aquatics and Training Center is open on Fridays from 10am to 4pm and the fitness area closes on Saturdays at 3pm. WIATC is closed on Easter Sunday and will be open on Monday.

The H4 course at Waterworld of Windsor is open daily from 8:30am to 6pm

Adventure Cove Family Waterpark will be open Friday, Saturday and Monday from noon to 4pm

The Francois Baby House will be closed through the weekend and reopen on Tuesday. The Chimczuk Museum will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday, but will be open as normal on Saturday and Easter Sunday.

On-street pay parking in Windsor will be free on Friday, Sunday and Monday, but the city’s pay surface car parks and garages will remain open and chargeable. Municipal ticket offices will be closed for three days.

Transit Windsor buses will operate on a Sunday schedule on Fridays and a normal schedule the rest of the weekend. The Downtown Transit Station will be open from 9:00am to 3:30pm on Good Friday and resume normal business hours on Monday.
