Man arrested for allegedly beating another man in downtown Chatham

A 29-year-old Chatham man is facing charges after allegedly implicating another man while waiting in line at a soup kitchen in downtown Chatham.

Police were called to the Fifth Street area and located the two victims who told them that while they waited, it was as if they had been attacked by an unknown person.

Police located the man who was still in the area and arrested him.

The 29-year-old was charged with two counts of assault and was later released to face future court.

Windsor man arrested for DUI in Chatham

A Windsor man has been charged with drink driving after he was caught by police while touring Chatham.

Police received multiple reports of a driver behaving erratically in the Queen’s line area at around 7.27pm on Saturday.

The driver was traveling at high speed when he swerved across the road, officials said.

Police spotted the vehicle traveling at 166km/h shortly after Middle Line was called.

Police said a breath test was performed but failed.

The man was arrested and taken to police headquarters for two further breath tests which showed he had blown more than the legal limit.

He was later released from police custody and has a future court date.

Chatham-Kent Police cross off two more names from unfinished warrant list

Chatham-Kent police crossed two other names off the list of outstanding warrants over the weekend.

Police located a man believed to be subject to an outstanding warrant in the Oakdale Road area of ​​Florence on Saturday.

Police said interviews with the man confirmed that he had a valid arrest warrant for failing to appear in court.

The 22-year-old Florence man was arrested and released from police headquarters.

Police were notified by Walpole Island Police on Sunday that a woman was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants from Chatham-Kent Police.

The 24-year-old Wallaceburg woman was taken to police headquarters in Chatham for a bond hearing.
