Global Affairs Canada says a Canadian has died in Antigua and Barbuda.

Willikies Police Department has confirmed to The Canadian Press that the man in his 60s drowned after falling from the Devils Bridge rock formation on Saturday.

The Caribbean nation’s armed forces said in a statement that the Antigua and Barbuda Defense Force Coast Guard received a 911 call shortly before 7 a.m. local time about a tourist who had fallen from the landmark.

Another call came shortly after reports that the man was found with a gash to his forehead and was unresponsive, they said.

The IDF said a search was carried out and the man was found about 30 meters from the bridge and taken to a doctor at the coastguard base, where he was pronounced dead.

Global Affairs said they were in contact with local authorities for more information on the death, but were unable to provide further information due to privacy concerns.
