More lane restrictions on Dundas St. for East London Link construction

Construction of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) will slow traffic in east London until the autumn.

From Monday, Dundas Street between Quebec Street and Egerton Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction as work begins on Phase 2 of the East London Link.

Crews will add new traffic lights and crosswalks, conduct private utility repairs and upgrades, and replace and repair asphalt and sidewalks.

Businesses will be open throughout construction and will have signage to help guide pedestrians to their destinations.

The work is not expected to be completed until the fall, according to city officials.

There are lane restrictions in addition to other lane restrictions near Ontario Street in Dundas, Ontario Street between Dundas and King Streets, and King Street between Lyle and Ontario Streets.

The city said the East London Link would revitalize more than 6km of road from the city center to Fanshawe College. It will see the creation of dedicated public transit lanes and the repair and replacement of aging sewers, water mains and other underground infrastructure.
