Police: Multiple people dead in shooting at bank building in Kentucky

At least four people were killed and at least eight were injured Monday in a shooting at a bank in downtown Louisville, police said. The suspected Lone Ranger is also dead.

Louisville Metro Police Deputy Chief Paul Humphrey told reporters that officers who arrived on the scene “were encountering active gunfire at the location that was still being fired.”

Police exchanged fire with the gunman, who appeared to be a former employee of the bank, but it was unclear how he died.

“We don’t know the exact circumstances of his death at this time,” Humphrey said.

At least eight people, including two police officers, are being treated, Humphrey said. One officer and another wounded are in critical condition.

Police later tweeted that officers were on the scene of the shooting within minutes.Calls of the Old National Bank shooting first came in around 8:30 a.m.

In a tweet, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said he was heading to the scene.

“Please pray for all affected families and the city of Louisville,” Beshear said.

The FBI said its agents were also responding to the shooting.

The shooting took place in a building on East Main Street, not far from the Louisville Ballpark and Waterfront Park.
