Liberal Party leadership candidates coming to Wingham

At least four candidates seeking the leadership of the Ontario Liberal Party are scheduled to appear at the Wingham Golf and Curling Club later this month.

The Huron-Bruce Provincial Riding Association will host an event on April 29th from 2:00pm to 5:00pm, with candidates for election Nathaniel Erskine-Smith, MPP Stephanie Bowman, MPP Adil Shamji and MPP Ted Hsu The four are seeking to be full-time replacements for Steven Del Duca, who stepped down as leader following the recent provincial election.

This will be one of the first opportunities to speak to top Liberals after the party changed its leadership rules, including switching to a “one vote, one vote” system earlier this year, which Erskine-Smith said would “allow for a more modern and open process.”

Del Duca resigned on June 2, 2022, after the Liberal Party won just eight seats and failed to gain official party status.
