Suspect sought for vehicle theft and assault charges

Windsor Police want help identifying a man who allegedly stole a car and sent its owner to hospital.

The event kicked off at around 2pm on Monday on Tecumseh Road East near the Tecumseh Mall. Officers were called to the location following a robbery complaint. When they arrived, they learned that a Saturn Vue sedan sitting idle in the parking lot had been stolen.

Police obtained surveillance video that showed the suspect entering the vehicle and attempting to drive away. The owner appeared and confronted the suspect, who rammed into another vehicle and dragged the owner a short distance. The victim is being treated and his life is not in danger.

Police were later called to Jefferson Boulevard near Queen Elizabeth Boulevard after reports of a petrol theft were reported. It turned out to be the same car and suspect.
