Teen accused of making threats, assaulting woman, stealing vehicle

A teenager accused of threatening, assaulting and stealing a woman’s car faces a long list of serious charges.

Police were initially called on Sunday afternoon to a missing persons and threats investigation involving a 15-year-old boy on Dearness Drive, according to Met Police.

When police began investigating the incident, the teen had gone to a business on Ernest Avenue and Southdale Road, where he allegedly threatened and assaulted a woman in the parking lot outside the Rexall Pharmacy.

The young man began jumping on the roof of the woman’s parked vehicle, damaging the windshield, police said. Afterwards, he is said to have climbed into the driver’s seat and attempted to drive the vehicle away, only to crash into a truck parked in the parking lot.

Investigators say the deranged teen then drove the vehicle toward Southdale toward Ernest, but crashed into a tree and into a parked pickup truck on Ernest Avenue . Fleeing in the damaged car, he was arrested by police a short time later on Jalna Boulevard, east of Ernest.

The victim sustained minor injuries during the ordeal. In total, $38,000 was lost, police said.

Accordingly, under the Young Criminal Justice Act, a 15-year-old London boy, who could not be identified, was charged with:

• Two counts of threatening death or bodily harm
• attack
• Attack with a weapon
• More than $5,000 in pranks
• Dangerous operation of the vehicle
• Two counts of failing to stop at the scene of an accident
• Motor vehicle theft

The accused is expected to appear in court for a second time on Tuesday.
