A woman in her 80s died in a fire at an apartment building on Afton Drive late Sunday night, Sarnia Fire and Rescue said.

Firefighters were called to the Woodstone apartment at around 11:40 p.m. on April 9, after a faint smoke was detected in the corridor of the five-story main building.
The fire was contained to furniture in the living room of one of the units and was quickly brought under control.
The fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire, which is not believed to be suspicious or criminal in nature.
No firefighters were injured, and damages are estimated at approximately $100,000.
