Lower Mainland youth stabbed in targeted incident

Police believe a 15-year-old has been taken to hospital after a targeted stabbing in North Delta Wednesday night.

Delta police responded to a stabbing incident at McCloskey Elementary School at 9:40 p.m. on April 12, according to a news release.

Officers at the scene provided first aid to a young man who was stabbed and was transferred to a local hospital. The young man is currently in stable condition and his life is not in danger.

While investigators determined the victim was the target, police said there were no known links to any other high-profile assaults involving youth in the Lower Mainland.

Also, while the incident took place on campus, it has nothing to do with the school.

DPD officers will be in the area today (Thursday) to continue their investigation and gather any available video.

Bespflug is Surrey’s fifth homicide victim so far this year and the second stabbed victim on a bus in Surrey this month.
