Windsor man arrested on numerous weapons charges



A 28-year-old man is facing multiple weapons counts after a police chase in Windsor.

Members of the police’s Recidivist Parole Enforcement (ROPE) squad were on Albert Road near Whelpton Street about 11am on Wednesday. Officers approached the suspect, who was seen removing a gun from his belt. The man then threw the weapon over a fence and started running. After a brief pursuit, police arrested the man on Walker Road.

The weapon, a semi-automatic pistol, was found along with some ammunition.

The Windsor resident was charged with four counts of possessing a firearm while prohibited and one count of possessing a loaded firearm, possessing a restricted firearm without a license, carrying a concealed weapon and violating probation.

Investigation is ongoing.
