Sarnia man arrested for avoiding court
A 51-year-old Sarnia man is in more legal trouble for allegedly skipping a scheduled court date.
Chatham-Kent police said the man was initially charged on October 9, 2022 with a number of offenses including obstructing police and possessing stolen property.
Police caught up with him on St Clair Street in Chatham just after 3pm on Thursday.
He was arrested and later released with conditions and a future court date.

Woman arrested in Chatham for shoplifting wanted
A 38-year-old Chatham woman wanted for allegedly stealing from a business on King Street East in Chatham two weeks ago is now facing charges.
Chatham-Kent Police said their investigation began on March 31 when they were summoned to the business to investigate the theft, adding that video surveillance showed the woman taking an item from a shelf and then leaving it on the She hid it before leaving without paying.
Police said they were able to identify the woman and issued an arrest warrant, but officers did not catch her until just before 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
She was arrested on Colburn Street in Chatham and charged with theft and possession of stolen property.
The woman was taken to police headquarters before being released with conditions and a future court date.

Wanted Fort Wallace man arrested
A 34-year-old Wallaceburg man wanted by police for failing to appear in court was again briefly detained by police.
Police said they spotted the man at a traffic stop on Dufferin Avenue in Fort Wallace just after 9 p.m. Thursday.
Officials confirmed the man was wanted under an outstanding warrant, so they arrested him.
He was later released and has a future court date.

Local man wanted by London police arrested in Chatham
Chatham-Kent police managed to assist their colleagues in London on Thursday night, with a wanted man arrested.
CK Police said a patrolling officer spotted the man on Eighth Street in Chatham just before 11 p.m. Thursday.
Police confirmed the man was wanted in connection with an incident in Chatham-Kent earlier in the day, in addition to being wanted by the Metropolitan Police.
The man was arrested and charged with obstructing police, theft and possession of stolen property.
He was taken to police headquarters in Chatham before being released conditionally and handed over to London police for use in court.

Chatham man charged off road for DUI
A 26-year-old Chatham man is facing charges of impaired driving after being stopped by early morning traffic in Chatham.
CK police said they pulled over a vehicle on Fifth Street in Chatham just after 1:15 a.m. Friday and believed the driver was intoxicated.
A roadside test was carried out before the driver was taken to police headquarters for further testing.
A 26-year-old man was charged with having a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit and has since been conditionally released to face future court.
