Chatham-Kent police tips on avoiding becoming a victim of crime

Police are advising community members to follow what they call a “9pm routine,” completing the following checklist:

• Remove valuables and garage door openers from the vehicle

• lock the car

• Close overhead garage doors

• Lock the door between the garage and the house

• Close and lock all doors leading to the outside

• Close and lock all windows

• Turn on the exterior lights

“Start your 9pm routine with your family,” police urged. “Together we can help reduce crime in your community.”
