E-bike burglary

Police are looking for information about an electric bicycle (e-bike) that was stolen from a northeastern Chatham home sometime in the past two weeks.

Police received a call to a residence on Vanier Drive about 9.30am on Friday to reports someone had entered and stolen a Daymack e-bike.

Tools and e-bikes taken from East Chatham property

Over the past three days, police say an unidentified suspect stole a number of valuables from a residence in the city’s east end.

Police were called to an address on Harwich Street at 5.39pm on Friday to reports that someone had broken into a shed and fled with a large number of tools and a Blue GIO e-bike.

Chatham-Kent police tips on avoiding becoming a victim of crime

Police are advising community members to follow what they call a “9pm routine,” completing the following checklist:

• Remove valuables and garage door openers from the vehicle

• lock the car

• Close overhead garage doors

• Lock the door between the garage and the house

• Close and lock all doors leading to the outside

• Close and lock all windows

• Turn on the exterior lights

“Start your 9pm routine with your family,” police urged. “Together we can help reduce crime in your community.”
